Preparing for next season

I’ve started to get back into training again after some time ‘off’. At this point I feel like I haven’t done enough that week if all I do is 15 miles of running, 50miles of biking and a mile or two of swimming. It’s funny to think that my ‘lazy’ week has become excessive for most people in the world, I never intended that but it just kind of became that way.

2 Month until the big race

With just under 2 months before my first half Ironman distance race a number of things start to go through your head. You start thinking back to all the training you’ve done and how far you’ve come during that time. Everyone is weaker in one of the three events, whether for you that’s the swim, the bike or the run. At this point your weakest even might not even be the same one you expected it to be when you first started training. 2 months out there’s still time to recover though, there’s still a month and a half of good solid training left that can make you feel really confident again. You start looking forward, if you’re like me, you actually start having thoughts of what your next event after this one will be; another half? maybe a full? or maybe back it down to only sprints and olympic distance triathlons?

Back at it again… oh and it’s also official now.

After being sick again for about 3+ weeks, I’m back at the gym again.  Over the past couple weeks, I haven’t been sick enough to need the hospital, just your everyday cold, but it lasted a really long time.  Now that I’m back at it, I’ve noticed I’ve lost a lot of what I had established.  The good thing is that it should come back fairly quickly.  I’ve been back to swimming and working out since about wednesday of last week.  So not quite a full week yet, but it’s going well.  I still don’t feel 100%, but 85% seems to be good enough for me to press forward.

Training Goals

I think everyone knows it’s important to set goals to strive for.  Goals that will not be easy to reach, but are still reachable.  No matter what sport, activity, or even a project at work there needs to be goals.  The title of my site currently says: “A training diary that proves you can go from being hospitalized for barely breathing to running half marathons within a year.”  That’s true, but it’s really an understatement of what I’m going to attempt.  It could actually say: “A training diary that proves you can go from being hospitalized for barely breathing to completing half Ironmans within a year.” or even “completing Ironmans within a year and a half.”
